Sign up for Direct Deposit Have you been meaning to sign up for direct deposit of your benefit payments but somehow never get around to doing it? New Year’s is a great time to resolve to finally get it done. As you know, direct deposit is the safest way to receive your money as well as being easier and more convenient. It’s also quick and easy to get done, visit www.GoDirect.org to find out how or enroll online. Still not sure why signing up for direct deposit is so important? Visiting www.GoDirect.org can answer any questions you still have about the program. Emergency Preparedness Making an emergency plan and making preparations in case of an emergency is something that many of us feel we should do but never quite get around to actually getting done. This New Year’s, why not make a resolution to finally get this done? This month’s story on emergency preparedness can give you a few ideas to get started, especially the Preparing Makes Sense for People with Disabilities and Special Needs. Take a look at it below: www.ready.gov/america/_downloads/PrinterFriendly_DisabilitesSpecialNeeds.pdf Building up your savings It can be hard to stay motivated to set aside a little bit every month to develop your savings. The New Year can be an opportunity to get a fresh start on making a serious effort to build up your assets. Many people with disabilities also have concerns about how building up assets will affect their benefits. If you share these concerns reading the booklet “Understanding Asset Development for Individuals with Disabilities” will assuage your concerns about your continued eligibility for benefits as well as point you towards programs that may help you better meet your asset needs. www.idaresources.org (PDF) In order for you to view the publication(s) (PDF) above, you will require Adobe Reader.
